People on the street gawked, unable to place many of the faces emerging from limos lining up outside trendy Cin Cin restaurant on Tuesday night.
Carly Pope, star of Everyone, a film about gay marriage that was the talk of the Montreal festival, tried to talk smoothly with
reporters, but kept getting startled by cameras and spinning around.
"I'm totally distracted by what's going on! We don't usually do this kind of thing!" she laughed.
Kristin Kreuk, star of teen drama series Smallville, said organizers should get some bigger names out there with her and Pope if they want to build profile.
"It's really important that we continue to publicize this festival and make it as big and as great as those other ones, especially Toronto.
"But my star power is really minuscule, so I think we need, like, some bigger people to come out and do this."
