The Interview
Carly Pope is one of the
stars of the new teen drama series Popular. Born in Vancouver, the
19-year-old actress beat out 450 girls for the part of Sam.
"When I was younger, when I thought of myself as older, I would have
these little flashes of fame," she says. "But then they would go away
because it always seemed so far off."
Although she says she was one of the "popular" crowd when she was in
high school, Pope's character is part of the "alternative" clique on
Popular, just one of six new network teen shows to debut this fall.
"It's really, really frightening," she says. "I might get typecast
as this teenager in high school. That's one thing I really want to stay
away from."
Because Popular has so far been critically acclaimed, Pope has been
featured in a number of TV and magazine stories. Still, she's determined
to keep all the attention from going to her pretty head. "It's a matter
of knowing who you are and just keeping with that."
